A New Name, A Timeless Journey: Welcome Aboard

Wind Shift

There’s something powerful about a new name. It marks a turning point. A shift in direction. A deep breath before the next chapter begins.

So here it is: our much-loved expedition yacht, formerly known as Salt Lines, now sails under her true identity — Wind Shift.

Same steel. Same crew. Same spirit.

Just a new name that better reflects who we are and where we’re going.

Forged for the Ocean

Wind Shift is a 70-foot steel expedition ketch built for serious ocean sailing. Originally designed by Laurent Giles and built in 1990, she’s crossed oceans, supported scientific missions, trained young adventurers, and even completed an Antarctic expedition with the British Army.

Her hull was sandblasted and repainted in 2022. Her standing rigging and engine were replaced in 2019. In 2024, she received a new generator, and in 2025 we’ve continued the upgrades: galley, electrics, internal refinishing — and the work continues.

This isn’t a yacht for show.

She’s a vessel of purpose.

And she’s ours — proudly owned, operated, and maintained by the Sail Seven Seas team.

Why the Change?

We’ve outgrown the past — and grown into something bigger.

Sail Seven Seas isn’t just a name on the hull. It’s a new direction. A global vision. A renewed commitment to purposeful adventure, meaningful connection, and journeys that leave you changed.

Whether you’re joining us for a Tasmanian food and sailing expedition, a remote reef science voyage, or a transoceanic crossing — you’ll be sailing with a team you can trust, on a vessel built for anything the sea can throw at her.

Where We’re Headed

The months ahead are already full:

  • A fresh series of immersive trips along the Australian coast and out to Lord Howe Island.

  • An all-female environmental leadership voyage.

  • A 2026 westabout circumnavigation, exploring the world’s wildest corners — at a human pace.

We’re not in this to race.

We’re here to offer real adventure, with real integrity.

And Wind Shift is at the heart of it all.

Come With Us

We know some of you have sailed with us before — and many more are planning your first trip. Whatever your starting point, we’d love to welcome you aboard.

So here’s to new chapters. To timeless journeys.

And to a vessel that feels like home the moment you step aboard.
