Our History

It's all about sailing, adventure and going round the world with like minded adventurers, to places that others don't or can't get to.

If only it was that simple! It really started out between Matt and Jason over a couple of beers or five where they wanted to sail to some amazingly cool places as well as setting things right with what they had experienced in prior sailing roles.

They wanted to provide an immersive sailing experience (you take on and learn as much or as little as you want), but with all the bells and whistles that leaves you with a memory that is the most amazing thing you've ever done. For example, why don't we have a scuba dive compressor on board, or why can't the guests (who are active contributing crew) get to choose where we go (weather, crew and region permitting).

We’ve spent countless hours poring over charts, guides, forums, videos, and sailor networks to craft voyages that aren’t just trips—they’re jaw-dropping adventures.

Yes, it’s a cliché, but it’s true: life is short. The world is changing fast. If you’ve ever dreamed of doing something bold, do it now—before the chance passes you by.

Our Yacht

Wind Shift isn't your average yacht. Designed by the renowned Laurent Giles and built in 1990 by AMARC (TES) in the UK, this Shipwright 70 was never meant for casual cruising. Originally launched as the iconic John Laing, her singular purpose was to brave the world's most challenging waters and provide life-changing expeditions.

This vessel's defining feature is that she was designed as an expedition yacht from the ground up. While other boats might fail their crew in demanding conditions, Wind Shift's capabilities allow her to go where few others can.

Wind Shift holds the MCA Category Zero certificate because this is the only certification that legally permits unlimited global cruising. This highest-level certificate proves the vessel meets the most rigorous international standards for stability, construction, safety equipment, and medical provisions (such as the Category A medical kit) necessary to protect crew and passengers in all ocean conditions.

Purchased in Tahiti in November 2021 by her current owner, Matt, she underwent a significant refit before being relaunched in May 2022. Since then, Wind Shift has proven herself as a formidable expedition yacht, logging over 40,000 nautical miles across the Pacific.
