Jason Haigh

A lifelong passion for sailing began in his teens with dinghies and evolved into an obsession with sailboarding during university. This passion led him on adventures, including windsurfing road trips from the UK to sunnier climates in a combi van, chasing the perfect wind and waves in places like Tarifa, Spain, and Portugal.

After a decade, work obligations shifted his focus. He returned to sailing in the late 1990s, working through the RYA yachting scheme. Upon earning his Yachtmaster Offshore in 1998, he purchased his first boat, a Victoria 30. While he didn't immediately sail to distant lands, he spent years navigating the chilly North Sea, exploring the UK's coast, and crossing the channel to Belgium, Holland, and France.

A new chapter began when he married, moved to Sydney, and started a software business. Although he and his wife often discussed sailing around the world, work and family life kept them busy. He maintained his connection to the sea through activities like scuba diving, kayaking, and day sailing.

The call to adventure became undeniable with the arrival of Covid. He and his family put their lives on hold, purchased a 42-foot catamaran, and embarked on a circumnavigation with their three kids (ages 7, 8, and 10). This life-changing journey covered over 32,000 nautical miles, visiting 28 countries and prioritizing remote and wild places. The incredible experience gave his entire family the "adventurer bug," and they are all committed to another circumnavigation.

This journey is the motivation behind his founding a unique sailing enterprise with Matt: to satisfy his need to "go around again" and share the experience with others. His qualifications include an MCA Yachtmaster Ocean, AMSA Sailing Master NC Offshore, and MNZ Master Yacht <24m.
