At Sail Seven Seas, our vessel may be steel — but our strength is in people.
We’re not a charter fleet. We’re not a brokerage. We’re a small, hands-on team led by experienced sailors who believe in something more than just movement from A to B.
We believe in the power of purposeful journeys.
We believe in earning trust — not assuming it.
And most importantly: we run what we own, and we own what we run.
Here’s who’s behind the helm.
Matt Harvey
Founder & Skipper
Matt is the founder of Sail Seven Seas and one of the two lead skippers of Wind Shift. He has logged over 51,000 nautical miles in command of ocean-going yachts and holds the following qualifications:
✅ RYA Yachtmaster Ocean, commercially endorsed (MCA Master of Yachts 200GT)
✅ AMSA Sailing Master Offshore NC
✅ Maritime NZ Master Yacht <24m
✅ STCW Medical Care Onboard Ship + Medical First Aid
✅ MROCP radio operator
Since 2021, Matt has owned and commercially operated Wind Shift (formerly Salt Lines), delivering expeditions across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. His experience spans bluewater deliveries, scientific and educational voyages, race campaigns (including Sydney to Hobart training), and long-haul offshore passages.
“I don’t see sailing as escapism — I see it as a return to what’s real. Wind Shift is a place where people reconnect, reset, and rediscover what they’re capable of.”
Jason Haigh
Business Partner & Co-Skipper
Jason brings over 62,000 nautical miles of offshore experience, including a Sydney–Sydney family circumnavigation aboard a Chamberlain 42 catamaran — with his wife and three young kids as crew.
He holds:
✅ RYA Yachtmaster Ocean (Commercial Endorsement)
✅ AMSA Sailing Master Offshore NC
✅ Maritime NZ Master Yacht <24m
✅ STCW, First Aid, Medical Care, Radar, and more
✅ LROCP radio operator
Jason has skippered steel monohulls and expedition ketches across the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans, including passages from South Africa to Brazil, and New Zealand to French Polynesia.
Steady, calm, and quietly hilarious, Jason is the kind of skipper you’d want beside you in any sea state — and he’s deeply committed to making offshore sailing more accessible, inclusive, and transformative.
👥 The Wider Crew Network
Depending on the voyage, you’ll meet a rotating cast of exceptional sailors, guides, scientists, and storytellers — all brought aboard for their experience, integrity, and alignment with our values.
You might find:
🧭 A veteran delivery skipper on a long Pacific passage
🧬 A marine biologist guiding a reef research trip
👩⚕️ A paramedic or expedition medic supporting remote islands
👩💻 A leadership coach facilitating offshore team development
Every crew member is handpicked. No fluff, no salespeople. Just capable humans doing meaningful work.
Why It Matters
You’re not just booking a berth — you’re joining a crew.
With Sail Seven Seas, that means:
Being welcomed, trained, and included
Knowing your vessel is in good hands
Learning by doing
Becoming part of something bigger
We’re proud of who we are. And we’d love to welcome you aboard.
